PURPOSE OF NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

To determine if any changes have occurred in your:

  • Cognitive functioning (e.g., attention, memory, planning, problem solving, etc),
  • Emotional functioning (e.g., depression, anxiety, personality functioning),
  • Behavioural, and or/physical functioning (e.g., fine and gross motor ability).
  • Suggest possible recommendations for treatment / rehabilitation.

Personality disorders should never be diagnosed before the age of 18 years of age.


Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

The Gold Standard for diagnosing ASD is using the ADOS-2, ADI-R, and a measure of adaptive functioning. As ASD is on a spectrum and everyone is different it is highly recommended to also examine: IQ, Executive Functioning, Memory, Learning, ADHD and behavioural issues to gain a comprehensive picture of how ASD looks for that particular individual and can help with discovering what supports are needed. Therefore, one or two of the assessments from each category listed above will be used in the complete capacity assessment including screening/assessing for autism package offered by CMPC under the heading CMPC Neuropsychological or Forensic Assessments and Report (child or adult).
